At their meeting Monday evening, the Mason City Commission appointed Robert Rayburn to fill the vacant post of Mayor of Mason.
A member of the Commission representing District 1 prior ot the appointment, Rayburn will serve the remainder of the current term that expires in May of 2026. The Mason Mayor’s post was vacant following the recent resignation of former Mayor Frank Bartlett.
With the appointment of Rayburn to fill the Mayor’s post, the City Commission then appointed William Beatty to fill Rayburn’s previous seat on the Commission. Beatty had served previously as a member of the City Commission. The term filled by Beatty will also expire in May, 2026.
