Two From Menard; One from Rochelle Qualify for 1A State Track Meet

This past weekend’s UIL 1A Region Track Meet at Abilene Christian University was quite competitive and when it was all said and done, there were three area track athletes who will be advancing to the 1A State Meet later this month in Austin from May 1-3.  Menard had two individuals advance – Sophomore Danni Ruiz, who won both the girls 400 meter and 800 meter runs and finished 3rd in the 200m dash, and Colby Powell who finished second in the boys 200 meter dash.  He also finished fourth in the boys 100m dash.

Rochelle Senior Sydney Smith has advanced to State with her second place finish in the girls 100m dash.  She also narrowly missed qualifying in the girls 200m dash by just .39 of a second, finishing in fifth place.  Lohn sophomore Dallas Keller finished 6^th in the high jump.
