Menard Qualifies Two for UIL State Track Meet, Brady’s Samerra Reed Finishes 3rd in Discus/Shot Put

This past weekend’s UIL 1A & 3A Region Track Meet at Abilene Christian University was definitely competitive and once the dust has settled,  there were two area track athletes who qualified for the State Track Meet to be held later this month in Austin (May 15-16).  Junior Danni Ruiz from Menard claimed Regional titles in the girls 400 meter, 800 meter and 1600 meter runs while her teammate sophomore Taytum Chambliss placed second in the 3200 meter run.  As a result, Menard finished the meet with 49 points which put the Lady Jackets in a tie for third place with Clyde Eula.

In 3A, Brady’s Samerra Reed took third place in both Discus and Shot Put while on the boy’s side, Caden Gillaspia finished 5th in shot put.
