Filing for March Primary Elections Ends Dec. 8

The official Filing Period for the March 3 Primaries will end on Monday, Dec. 8th. The filing period opened on Nov. 8th.

At the County level, up for election next year will be County Judge, County Commissioners for Precincts 2 and 4 , County Clerks, District Clerks, County Treasurers and certain County Constables and Justices of the Peace.

The most watched statewide political contest will be the U.S. Senate seat held by longtime incumbent U.S. Sen. John Cornyn who was first elected in 2002. Two GOP candidates have announced plans to run against Cornyn, while three Democrats are considering running for the post.

Other Statewide offices up for election in 2026 include those for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Comptroller, Land Commissioner, Agriculture Commissioner, a seat on the Texas Railroad Commission and seven seats on the State Board of Education.

All 38 U.S. House seats representing Texas are up for election. Sixteen seats are up for election in the Texas Senate, and all 150 seats in the Texas House.
