Rochelle ISD Superintendent, Matthew Fields, told KNEL Monday afternoon that classes at Rochelle School will resume on Tuesday after the school was closed on Monday due to a threat directed at the school Saturday night by a caller to a national crisis hotline.
The hotline reported the call to the McCulloch County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff reported a phone call had been made to a national crisis hotline which, in turn, contacted Rochelle School administrators.
Since the caller provided incomplete information to the national hotline, there is no clear indication the caller was or is a student at Rochelle High School.
On Monday, Fields indicated that investigators said the call apparently originated outside the U.S. Authorities were also suspicious the call was valid partly due to the way the caller had purposefully covered their tracks.
Supt. Fields said law enforcement is continuing to investigate the incident.
With the resumption of Rochelle classes on Tuesday, Supt. Field said there would be a noticeable presence of law enforcement personnel on the school campus.
If you have information regarding the threat, contact the Rochelle School immediately at 325-243-5224 or use their anonymous report form at https://www.rochelleisd.net/page/stopit.
