The City of Melvin issued a Boil Water Notice for its Water System after E. coli bacteria was found in the water supply on Friday, Oct. 30th.

E. coli bacteria can make you sick and are a particular concern for infants, young children and people with weakened immune systems.

Melvin officials indicated the Boil Water Notice will remain in effect until the problem is resolved and the water has been tested and shown to be safe.

E. coli are fecal microbes whose presence indicate the water may be contaminated with human or animal wastes. Microbes in these wastes can cause short-term health effects, such as diarrhea, cramps, nausea, headaches or other symptoms. If you experience any of these symptoms, you may want to seek medical advice.
